Portable PC Ultrasound
Guided Therapy Systems sought after portability in this desktop version of their ultrasound technology. The idea was to break into a new market for home visit medical care, where the ultrasound tech would be able to make house calls with this delightfully small ultrasound wand and base that used a powerful laptop or portable tower to process the images. The ultrasound data would be fed to the PC via USB and would require it's own 12 V adapter to power it. Here you can see the ergonomic form of the wand, and there's a picture of one of our arthritic testers gripping the wand. It is designed to be durable to withstand repeated disinfecting between patients. My responsibilities included usability studies, liaising with engineering to define the technology package, and aesthetic concepts.
