Thermo Dog Leash
A small start up wanted to create a new dog leash product with a twist: adding an integrated infrared thermometer. The star feature of the product is the IR temperature sensor and feedback interface. The product embodiment altogether would feature an external hook-slot for use with a flat or round leash the end-user would furnish themselves (no internal leash), internal IR thermometer, and dog poop bag roll holder. The ergonomic orientation of the product allowed the user to check the surface temperature the dog was walking on for temperature ranges indicating safe, approaching unsafe, and unsafe by a green, orange/amber, and red LED respectively. My responsibility was principal industrial design: human factors and canine factors engineering, aesthetic design language according to client direction, and parts arrangement for total product package.
